Benefits of Reiki & FAQ

The Healing Power of Reiki

Reiki supports healing on every level — physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. When we open to this universal life energy, we begin to experience greater harmony, synchronicity, and a deeper sense of flow in everyday life.

Traditionally known as a hands-on healing art, Reiki is also a path of self-awareness, clarity, and personal growth. It bridges ancient wisdom and modern understanding — connecting the higher self with the energy that flows through all living things.

Reiki is safe and gentle for everyone, including those with medical conditions such as epilepsy, diabetes, or heart concerns. It can be received alongside chemotherapy, and it’s beneficial for pregnancy and postpartum support. Reiki complements all forms of care and can bring comfort through every stage of life.

Some of the many benefits of Reiki:

  • Dissolves energetic blockages and restores balance between body, mind, and spirit

  • Assists the body in cleansing toxins and strengthening the immune system

  • Calms the mind, enhances focus, and helps you feel grounded and centered

  • Relieves pain and supports physical healing

  • Works beautifully alongside medical and holistic treatments

  • Encourages emotional release and inner peace

  • Activates your body’s natural capacity for self-healing

Reiki FAQs

1) What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is spiritually guided life-force energy that flows through all living things. During a session, this gentle energy helps open and balance your energetic pathways, encouraging healing and harmony throughout your body, mind, and spirit.

2) Where did Reiki originate?

Reiki was founded in Japan in the early 1900s by Dr. Mikao Usui. Since then, it has been shared and practiced around the world as a natural and loving method of energy healing.

3) What is a Reiki session like?

Every Reiki session is unique ~ shaped by what your body and energy need in that moment. You’ll be invited to lie fully clothed on a massage table with gentle music playing in the background.
You may feel warmth, tingling, waves of energy, or a deep sense of peace. Some people drift into a light sleep, while others see colors or feel emotional release. However it unfolds, Reiki always flows for your highest good.
I’ll hold space quietly throughout the session, allowing the energy to guide the process unless you feel called to speak.

4) What should I wear?

Comfort is key. Wear loose-fitting clothing and remove glasses, shoes, and heavy jewelry. Since you’ll remain fully clothed, it’s important to feel at ease. I also ask that phones and electronic devices be silenced to preserve the stillness of your session.

5) Can I receive Reiki if I’m under medical or psychological care?

Yes. Reiki is a beautiful complement to medical and psychological treatments. It doesn’t interfere with medication or medical procedures and can be safely combined with counseling, chiropractic, acupuncture, physical therapy, or other holistic care.
Always inform your physician or therapist that you’re receiving Reiki so they can note your progress ~ many clients find that Reiki enhances their overall sense of well-being and recovery.

6) Do I have to understand Reiki for it to work?

Not at all. You don’t need to intellectually understand Reiki to benefit from it ~ simply being open to the experience is enough. Just as your body knows how to heal a cut, your energy system knows how to realign itself.
Over time, repeated sessions help your energy “remember” its natural state of balance and release what no longer serves you.

7) How often should I receive Reiki?

That depends on your goals and needs. Some people come weekly or biweekly, while others schedule monthly sessions for maintenance.
For deeper healing or times of emotional transition, I often recommend a series of four weekly sessions to open and balance your energy system, then reassess together from there.

8) Can Reiki help with mental and emotional stress?

Absolutely. Reiki helps shift dense or stagnant energy patterns, supporting emotional release, inner peace, and mental clarity.
It can be especially helpful for anxiety, depression, grief, sleep issues, and times of personal transformation. Reiki can also enhance the effectiveness of counseling or therapy, though it’s not a replacement for psychological care.

9) Can I receive Reiki during cancer treatments?

Yes. Many hospitals and cancer centers now integrate Reiki into their care programs because of its calming and restorative effects.
Clients often report reduced pain, less medication use, greater comfort, improved sleep, and a sense of spiritual connection. Reiki should always be used as a complement ~ not a replacement ~ for your medical treatment plan.

10) Should I receive Reiki even if I feel fine?

Yes! Reiki is a wonderful form of energetic maintenance and self-care. Regular sessions can help support emotional balance, restful sleep, healthy circulation, and overall vitality ~ much like yoga, meditation, or a nourishing diet.

11) Does Reiki have any religious affiliation?

No. Reiki is not tied to any religion or belief system. It is simply universal life energy ~ a loving force that transcends all faiths, cultures, and traditions.

12) Is Reiki covered by insurance?

At this time, most health insurance companies do not cover Reiki treatments. However, I’m happy to discuss payment plans if needed. Please don’t hesitate to reach out ~ healing should always feel accessible.

A gentle reminder:

Reiki is practiced around the world as a complementary healing art. It does not replace medical care or treatment. If you have a serious illness or medical condition, always seek guidance from a qualified healthcare provider. Reiki can safely accompany and support your healing journey.
